            | 'Gabriel' |
            | In response to Robin Turner’s article about ‘Gabriel’ in the January 2013 Bulletin, Richard Taylor (FS 59-64)
 has sent in the following:
“Having enjoyed (among so much else in the recent excellent Old St Beghian) Robin Turner's very amusing recollection of the machinations of the mischievous and ancient Gabriel,
I wondered whether you would like to include the attached photograph of him, circa 1962, in the online version?

He was quite a character, and could be as irreverent and surly towards teaching staff or others in authority
as he could be conspiratorial with boys who appreciated his anarchic spirit.

Gabriel was not exactly a fashion plate, but I do think that the photo captures his independence of spirit extremely well!”

Rohit Rao (SH 00-07) has kindly sent in the following account of his recent charity fundraising cycle ride:

"....... I just returned from leading the first team to cycle from the East coast to the West coast of Africa. It took almost 9 weeks to cover 3,678km through Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.

I have been fundraising for One Water, Medecins Sans Frontières, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan's Cancer Support, the RNLI, the Children's Hospice Association and Maggie's Homes. We have so far raised over £7,000 for these charities, but we're aiming to raise up to £14,000, as this will allow One Water to build an entire sustainable water pump system in one of the villages that generously gave us water and a place to stay along our route.

I would be extremely grateful if you could please circulate this information among other Old St Beghians in case any of them are interested in sponsoring us.

Our website is pedalafrica.wordpress.com and my donations page is www.justgiving.com/Rohit-Rao..."
